SUNDAY FROM MY DESK
Many events here at 10 Corso Como this week, it is fashion time in Milan,
and for me, in a city that has always loved the arts, the most interesting shows
have a connections with design, architecture, and art. It is always a pleasure
to see ideas where the mind can be taken somewhere else. When looking
at all the collections, some clothes seem to express a richer meaning.
At the Prada shows the first suprise, before the collections, is the backdrop.
This time lilac sand dunes raise expectations even higher. An infinity landscape
bathed in the surreal purple light recalling to me the works of James Turrell.
Old and new, brocades and cotton – this beautiful coat carrying memories
of Venetian history – fragments of fabrics catching my imagination.
The closing of fashion week for me ended with the exhibition and party
for Vogue celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of Italian Vogue,
and the 25th anniversary of my sister at the helm.
The opening of the exhibition “Bettina” at the gallery gave me another
occasion to admire and respect even more the strength and beauty of this
amazing woman. Seeing her in Paris, and now in Milano, she is still a young
girl in spirit, with her witty and elegant smile reflecting her bright heart.
Now in her nineties, she is an example of a life well lived.
Sunday morning visit to Ruhs studio is a stop before and after the Marni show,
to see the delicate exquisite little flowers in ceramics and metal wire
that will compose soon an ideal garden sculpture.
An ode to flowers, for the 20th anniversary. Marni presented a collection
with surprising combination of canvas, linen, cotton – and the flowers so Marni.
And the exhibition at the Rotonda della Besana, a one day flower market, to celebrate
the power and beauty of nature – the invitation envelope held flower seeds
to grow now in our own garden.
A moment of peace and fun during fashion week in my office
