A warm welcome to Monica Bolzoni, founder of Bianca e Blu,
who celebrated her world with a beautiful glossary book
designed by Régis Tosetti, art director e graphic designer with the help
and the gaze of Andrea Fornari, Professor from the Ecal/University of Art and Design.
It took more than two years to elaborate the entire material from the archives
with an original layout and  a special typefont,
and it was published by ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne and Rizzoli.
A different, original approach to the history of fashion“, said Mariuccia Casadio,
art historian and critic,Vogue Italia art consultant.
It entirely reflects the specific attitude of Monica Bolzoni
to let the students give birth to their inner creativity
“,

The photographic oeuvre by Martine Franck (1938–2012)
assembled in this comprehensive monograph, edited by Agnès Sire,
artistic director of the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson
now available at Fondazione Sozzani Bookshop.

The work on this book has been undertaken in 2011 with Martine Franck,
through a chronological journey, including many unpublished images,
the photographer has conceived different chapters spanning her entire life.
Feminism, social deprivation, the elderly, and Buddhism join artists,
writers and landscapes as subjects that are visited and revisited over the years
and through various travels to the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland or Asia,
scrutinised through the lens of her selfless sensitivity,
an eye for form and composition for the woman who wished to “greet the unexpected”.

Her celebration of life, the joy of her knowing eye,
and her commitment to different causes
made Martine Franck a major figure on the international photographic scene.

Thomas Demand and Francesco Bonami
will present the volume “The Complete Papers” published by MACK
on Monday January 14th 2019, 7.00 pm
at the Fondazione Sozzani.

“The Complete Papers” is an extensive catalogue
spanning nearly three decades of work by the German artist Thomas Demand.
Demand produces large-scale photographs that appear convincingly real
or strangely artificial in their minimalism. His images are in fact records of life-size paper installations,
which he often creates based on images culled from the media.

MUSEUM

The Transitory Museum
by Emanuele Coccia, Donatien Grau

from December 21st, 2018
at Fondazione Sozzani Bookstore.

Throughout modernity there has been a clear divide between art and commerce.
Objects could either be consumed as commerce or contemplated as art.
Today, as museums are facing increasing financial pressure
and as stores have become inventive locations for the conception of new modes of display,
this clear divide has shifted. One place signifies a key stage in this evolution:
10 Corso Como.

It was founded in Milan at that very address in 1991
by fashion editor Carla Sozzani
and has since expanded to Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai and New York.
The name “concept store”, which has now spread across our globalised world,
was originally coined to describe this new form.
It brings together objects for sale, artworks, books, clothes, accessories,
and even souvenirs in a unique location, blending commerce and contemplation, fashion and art.
Stemming from a case study of this genre-defining entity,
this first philosophical inquiry into a store aims to shed a new light on how categories
that have governed our modern social, economic, political and individual lives,
such as commerce, art, fashion, museum, are being redefined today.
It calls on us to re-engage with what we long considered to be separate:
transcendence and immanence, human beings and their objects.
