The Paris skies – nothing more can be said. There is nothing more striking than Nature and never will be, especially over Paris in the Spring. There is no place more beautiful to stop on my way to Shanghai this week.read more sunday

I had the pleasure to attend the preview of the Matisse exhibition now at the Tate.  It was a good reason to go to London and well worth the trip.  It is always so easy to appreciate the results of creative energy – the art – but the Tate has presented the beautiful Matisse note books filled with his thoughts and feelings, accompanied by the simple, wonderful, colorful works he invented with scissors.  To read in Matisse’ own handwriting, “It has bothered me all my life that I do not paint like everybody else” is an unforgettable way to recall the artist, as we stand in front of his art.read more sunday

It has been design week in Milano.
The Salone del Mobile is the most important event the city hosts during the year.
The energy and vitality of the Salone becomes a point of reference for the world of design and adds to the excitement here as so many interesting people arrive for this ongoing series of events throughout the city; and always presentations of new works to visit and new re-editions to see. In the book on my desk you can see a photograph of Ettore Sottsass, Enzo Mari, Andrea Branzi, Alessandro Mendini, and Vico Magistretti – the gods of design all gathered together! The picture is by Ramak Fazel.read more sunday
