Christmas gifts are meant to surprise.  The value lies so much more in the thought behind the gift.  So – after years of wearing only silver jewellery, my Christmas surprise, casually laid out on a Persian blanket, a little paper wrapped gift, with gold jewellery… the warm reflections it gives are part of the meaning of gold…wisdom, knowledge, splendor, holiness…. And has been used by artists through all of history

to explore its essence in fine art and jewellery.

Moscow’s traffic and congestion are famous and beyond belief

–  much more impressive than the cold here.

So it is not the snowfall paralyzing the city, but the congestion,

and it becomes such a normal part of being here that you learn to use it.

It is very good for thinking, meditating and taking your time, no rush…

because you can’t!  The jams give you time to dream,

read, look at books… while you calmly wait in the endless lines.

The trip to Moscow this week has been a trip to museums of beauty

– they always bring me calm.
